In years past, merchants on upper Queen Anne Avenue would light the trees in front of their shops, if they could afford it. It costs around $200 per tree. Many could, some couldn’t. And there are always some empty store fronts, so there were bare patches. Last year, the Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce stepped up and invested in lights for all 80 trees on the Ave, and covered the cost between what merchants contributed and what it cost to light them all. This took up half of the Chamber’s budget for the year, and it is not an expense they/we (I am a Chamber member) can sustain. So, we’re looking to encourage community participation in helping create a festive spirit on Queen Anne during the holidays. If you are able to contribute to the tree lights, please drop off or mail a check of any amount to:

There’s a little write-up in the Queen Anne View here, as well.

Thank you and enjoy those beautiful lights this winter!
