Didn’t that sun and warmth this past weekend feel amazing?! I did a little spring cleaning, my husband put out the deck furniture, and we finally checked out the W. Thomas St. Overpass to Myrtle Edwards Park (on Lower Queen Anne). Absolutely gorgeous, sweeping views.

As we come out of our winter hibernation and start getting busier, let’s not forget to take good care of ourselves. I recently read “Present Perfect: A Mindfulness Approach to Letting Go of Perfectionism and the Need for Control” by Pavel Somov, Ph.D. I liked this excerpt, which I think may be helpful for many of us in this culture:

“A human has a self, and this self makes choices (expresses preferences and moves toward well-being). That’s how we operate. That’s natural. There’s nothing wrong with having a reason behind what you do. As a perfectionist, you struggle to acknowledge your motives in fear that you’ll be accused of selfishness. But selfishness doesn’t have to be a bad word. Selfishness is simply pursuit of well-being, an act of self-care. It is our psycho-physiological imperative.”

Happy Seattle Spring!
